About SeQure Underwriters
A history of SeQure Underwriters must begin with a little
background on its founder, and owner, G. Philip (Phil)
Feldman. Phil began in the insurance industry in 1977 as an
agent in Cambridge, Maryland. Phil spent many years
developing sound relationships with carriers and clients alike and
has always prided himself on delivering both superior service and
pricing. As his agency developed, Phil realized the need to
specialize in a niche market and program business. Therefore,
in 1992, Phil began to focus his agency's efforts on the
ever-growing technology market. Quickly, the agency grew to
over 100 employees to meet the new demand.
SeQure Underwriters began in 2000 as an agency-owned
captive. It was formed by Phil to service the technology
business from his agency, ISG International, Inc. Currently,
SeQure operates as a reinsurance company domiciled in Grand Cayman
and writes insurance on A rated paper provided by various captive
carrier partners.
In 2007, Mr. Feldman sold his insurance agency to Arthur J.
Gallagher. He decided to maintain control of the captive and
continue operations as a stand-alone reinsurance company to service
other agencies with similar programs and structures to ISG
International.
Mr. Feldman founded SeQure on the notion that the advantages of
a risk-sharing arrangement should be made available to those who
are not in a position to form their own. Agencies with profitable
program business should be able to profit on that business by
taking some of the risk and, in turn, reaping some of the
benefits.
SeQure aims to bring a captive environment and profitability to
any national or regional program managed by agents or associations
willing to take ownership and control of their program's
direction.
